These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Better French. By accessing or using our service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use our service.

1. The Service

Better French provides curated news content, translations, learning tools, audio content, summaries, and educational materials for users learning French or seeking to understand France. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time without notice.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Better French. By using our service, you represent that you meet this requirement.

3. Your Account

4. Subscriptions and Payments

Better French offers free and paid subscription plans. For paid subscriptions:

• Payments are processed through our third-party payment provider
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date
• You may cancel at any time from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
• All fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law
• We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable notice

5. Intellectual Property

Our Content: All content created by Better French—including but not limited to daily summaries, translations, explanations, audio recordings, podcasts, simplified titles, educational materials, learning games, design, graphics, and software—is owned by Better French and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works without our written permission.

Third-Party Content: Better French curates and references content from publicly available sources (such as RSS feeds) for educational and informational purposes. Original articles, text, and media remain the intellectual property of their respective publishers. We provide attribution and links to original sources. We do not claim ownership of third-party content.

Transformative Use: We add educational value to third-party content through translations, simplified summaries, audio narration, vocabulary tools, and learning features. These additions are created by Better French and are our intellectual property.

Your Content: If you submit any content to our service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content in connection with operating and improving our service.

6. Copyright and Takedown Requests

We respect intellectual property rights. If you are a content owner and believe your content is being used on Better French in a way that infringes your rights, please contact us at hello@betterfrench.fr with:

• Identification of the copyrighted work
• The specific URL or location on our service
• Your contact information
• A statement that you are the rights holder or authorized to act on their behalf

We will review and respond to valid requests promptly and remove or disable access to the content if appropriate.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose
• Copy, scrape, or redistribute our content
• Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code
• Interfere with or disrupt the service

TRANSLATIONS AND EXPLANATIONS ARE PROVIDED FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES AND MAY CONTAIN ERRORS. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DECISIONS MADE BASED ON OUR CONTENT.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BETTER FRENCH SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Better French and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the service or violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of France. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of France.

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in effect.

15. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Better French regarding the service.
